Fractional microneedle radio frequency (RF) treatment for skin rejuvenation

Fractional microneedle radio frequency (RF) treatment for skin rejuvenation

Ageing of the skin
The skin undergoes a natural aging process determined by inherited factors. This is accelerated by sunlight, solarium, and smoking. As age progresses, dead skin cells are shed from the skin surface more slowly, so the natural glow of a young face is replaced by dull, grey, uneven, sometimes rough skin. With age, the number and activity of fibroblasts in the dermis decreases, which is manifested in the decrease in the amount of collagen and elastic fibers, so the thickness of the skin decreases by 1% per year after the age of 30. The collagen and elastic fibers found in the dermis ensure the elasticity and firmness of the skin. The appearance of fine wrinkles in different parts of the face can be seen from the age of 30. Wrinkles become deeper over time, which is accompanied by a decrease in firmness and elasticity, sagging of the skin is most visible near the chin. As the skin of the neck becomes flabby, horizontal wrinkles appear. Collagen and elastic fibers are only regenerated if the fibroblasts are stimulated to work more intensively with some therapeutic procedure. One of the newest and effective methods for this is the fractional microneedle radio frequency (RF) treatment, which is a non-surgical, effective and safe skin rejuvenation method. It combines the effects and benefits of fractional laser, traditional RF, dermaroller and LED therapy. It works by stimulating the skin's own self-healing processes. It is suitable for renewing the texture of the skin and reducing the depth of wrinkles. As a result, your skin becomes noticeably fresher, it becomes tighter as a result of its volume-increasing effect, and it lifts the lower third of the face. It can be used to treat the face, neck, décolletage, and back of the hands. Its applicability is not limited to age, it can be used as a preventive treatment for facial rejuvenation from the age of 30. There is no upper age limit of fractional microneedle RF treatment.

How does fractional microneedle RF treatment work?
The treatment combines the effets of three methods: the thermal energy of RF, the micro-injuries of needle punctures, and LED therapy. The device has two types of micro needles, both types contain 36 needles in the 1 cm2 treatment head. The needles are driven into the skin by an electric motor, and in the meantime, the depth of the needling, the frequency of the RF, the duration of the RF, the intensity of the RF, and the color of the LED light can be tailored. The type of needle is chosen according to the severity of the signs of aging. The insulated needle emits the thermal energy of the RF only at its non-insulated end, in the dermis, thus minimizing damage to the skin surface. It is used for milder signs of aging. When using the non-insulated needle, the thermal effect of the radio frequency affects its entire length. It is used for pronounced signs of aging when we want to achieve greater skin damage. The radiofrequency heat energy of the non-insulated needle creates a column-like, fractional coagulation in both the epidermis and the dermis, while the insulated needle only in the dermis. On the one hand, rapid regeneration takes place from the intact areas between the coagulation zones, and on the other hand, the substances are released from here, which, according to histological examinations, initiate the formation of collagen and elastic fibers in the fibroblasts. The thermal effect of the RF heats the skin to 50-60 °C, causing the collagen fibers to contract and tighten. This results in more elastic, tighter skin that is visible immediately after the treatment, and for this reason the skin will be particularly tight for a few days after the treatment. The pricking effect of the microneedles causes small injuries in the epidermis and dermis, which is another stimulus for the fibroblasts to increase their collagen and elastic fibers production. The red LED light activates epidermal cells and increases collagen production in the dermis.

Effects of fractional microneedle RF treatment

  • It makes the skin tighter
  • It increases the volume of the skin
  • It decreases the the depth of wrinkles
  • It decreases the the depth of acne scars
  • It provides a more even skin surface
  • It decreases the sebum production
  • It tightens the large pores

To whom do we recommend the fractional microneedle RF treatment?

  • For those with sagging skin around the chin, cheeks and chin
  • For those who wants a preventive treatment from the age of 30
  • Those who want to refine their deeper wrinkles and disappear their superficial wrinkles
  • For those with reduced skin tightness on the face, neck, décolletage, back of the hands
  • Those with oily skin, acne or larger pores

What are the advantages of fractional microneedle RF treatment?

  • There is no pain
  • In a mild case, one tretment causes a clearly visible result
  • There is a very short downtime, you can do your daily activity the next day
  • It can be safely used on the face, neck, décolletage, and back of the hands
  • It can be used safely in the case of dark skin and in summer because the energy of RF doesn’t absorbed by melanin
  • It can be combined with other aesthetic treatments: wrinkle filling, botox treatment, skin booster treatment, fine thread contouring treatment

What should you do before fractional microneedle RF treatment?
If you often have herpes, you need to take pills to prevent it. Avoid strong sunlight and don't use solarium for 2 weeks before the treatment.

How do we perform the fractional microneedle RF treatment?
The first step of the treatment is a quick, mild peel for the removal the top, dead skin layer. This promotes the effect of the anesthetic cream, so you don't feel even the slightest pain during the treatment. The application time of anesthetic cream is 30 minutes. The treatment is performed on the entire face and lasts 60 minutes.

What do you need to do after a fractional microneedle RF treatment?
Fractional microneedle RF treatment is not associated with wound formation. After the treatment, the skin is slightly tense and red, but the redness disappears within a few hours. Use micellar water to clean the treated area. In the first 1-2 days, it is necessary to hydrate the skin several times. Saunas, solariums, steam baths, and sweaty activities are not allowed for 48 hours after the treatment. Acid peel should be avoided for at least 2 weeks. The use of SPF 50 sunscreen is also recommended for at least 2 weeks to avoid irritation of the renewing skin.

How many fractional microneedle RF treatments are recommended?
The skin becomes noticeably younger after just 1 week: thanks to the regenerated epidermis, the skin becomes softer and smoother. Fine wrinkles and unevenness disappear, skin color becomes uniform, sebum production decreases. The full result will develop within 3-6 months after the treatment. During this time, the production of new collagen and elastic fibers takes place in the skin. In most cases, some repeated treatments every 4 weeks are necessary in order to replace the entire epidermis and dermis, as well as to produce a sufficient amount of collagen and elastic fibers in the skin, which can permanently ensure the desired tightness and elasticity of the skin. The duration of effect varies from 1 to 1.5 years, which is influenced by age, sunbathing and solarium habits, and smoking. The treatment is repeated according to your individual needs.

When do we not perform fractional microneedle RF treatment?
During pregnancy, botox treatment within the last two weeks, in the case of active dermatitis, or sores in the treatment area.
